Thanks for your feedback and thoughts here, Rana. I think you offer Brittney some useful pointers for revision and design.
And, Brittney, I think your website looks very polished overall. Nice job!
After looking at your website Brittney, I really like the simple and clean design of it. It looks very professional, but at the same time very fresh. I really like how easy it is to navigate it, without the hustle of knowing which link goes to what. Everything is organized under related categories. For example, everything related to teaching is under the teaching category, without having individual categories for everything, which helped in knowing where everything is at.
With that said, I think the home page could be a little confusing because the first thing on it is a blog post about a quote by Ralph Emerson, and it has your photo on the left side of it. I think this could be a little confusing for some people because it looks like the post is going to be about your information, while it is actually about something else. So I think if you labeled the post as “Blog Posts” or something like that, it will help. Besides that, it felt a little different to have the home page link at the end of the top main menu bar (on far right side), sites usually have that link at the beginning of the main menu bar (on the left side).
Also, I think having the About page on the sidebar of the website is really nice and different from what we usually see on websites; however, I wish if there were more information about what you usually like doing beside teaching. I feel having some lifestyle information on anybody’s website make them a little close to the visitors’ of their websites, find more common things with the website owner.
In addition, I like how you are planning to include Norway’s experience in the website by starting “a travel blog” about it; however, I feel if you moved it to its own separate category, it could attract visitors more because it will signify the importance it actually has. I feel the Norway blog might turn to become a scholarly work within a possible research someday.
Finally, I haven’t really noticed any spelling or grammar errors on the website, everything seems to be correct. The only incomplete page in the website is the “student work” page, and the only link that didn’t work is the Twitter account icon. Plus, the Facebook account icon directed me to the Arts and Draughts page instead of your personal page.
Overall, I really enjoyed the website, awesome work Britt!
