Cody,
Overall, I really enjoyed your website. I found that it was similar to mine in its simplicity and cleanliness. I think the simple, straightforward nature of the navigation is useful and something more appropriate for personal/professional websites. I especially like your menu, and that each section of your site has its own clearly labeled page available at all times when clicking around and moving between the pages.
Although I opted to combine my about and home pages, I do like that you have them separate here. Your homepage image is beautiful, and I appreciate that you took it yourself. I didn’t realize how few pictures I take, and how many of those that I do are of my cats, until I went in search for usable material. Because I know you went to CSUN, I understood the connection, and you make it clear on your about page, so I think it works rather well.
The use of images works well to break up text, but also in highlighting and relating to the page’s text. They all seem relevant and aren’t too busy. Again, everything is clear and legible, and I think your site really benefits from it.
I didn’t notice any broken links or misspellings/typos/grammatical errors. However, in relation to your “writing” page, it might be nice to have something from you, some kind of reflection or explanation of your collection of poems included on it. I like that you’ve included reviews and links to individual poems you’ve written, but again, I think some kind of introduction would be useful. You do this a bit in your “about” section, but something on the actual page might be nice. This is of course my own personal taste, and the page functions perfectly well without it.
The contact page is nice, the plug-in you chose for that works well and I like the “D” logo pictured alongside it. The use of word online works well on your C.V. page. Instead of scrolling on the site itself, you’re able to scroll on the document itself, and I think it keeps the focus there a bit better.
I really enjoyed your “links” and “blog” pages, they gave more insight into who you are personally, but also professionally, and I think you’ve achieved a good balance of that overall with your website.
