Mcpherson

Leave a comment on paragraph 1 0 McPherson’s essay is very interesting in the idea of differentiating the difference between our culture, coding and our race. Though she states these are all different, she also raises the idea that they are all connected. I think to bring light to these connections, we must first take a step back and acknowledge how we define each and every single one of these words.

Leave a comment on paragraph 2 0 In class, we have discussed that defining is an important characteristic within the humanities. I think that this is where we begin our process of creating a spectrum to two connected worlds. If we were to fully define culture, coding and race, our definitions would be infinite. It would be continuously long. So, if we were able to set limits upon these definitions that included induction of certain similarities that are correlated between all three topics, we would be able to have a starting point to McPherson.

Leave a comment on paragraph 3 2 We also discussed ideas such as alienation, systematic values and how we differentiate certain objects. Let’s start with alienation. If we were able to detach ourselves from such perception of where we were in a culture and our race and focused solely on the main focus, coding, we wouldn’t have the problems that are arising. Creating this type of separation will allow us to communicate better as we would all have similar interests and our values would stay the same. By differentiating these objects, you are able to create a system that will be strictly just those interested in the idea of coding.

Leave a comment on paragraph 4 1 I think by depersonalizing these definitions and making them more broad, it will help with unity. By obtaining this unity, it creates a sense of belonging to those in the field. Not only that, but they might be more prone and willing to scholarly thing like collaborate on certain projects and ideas. All-in-all, I think that this article that we read pertains to our social and cultural acceptance of definitions and our values behind changing it.
