I agree with Montana, and I like your overall design scheme for this site, Maia.
Watch out for typos and grammatical errors, though; remember that this is your professional “signature’ in the digital world, so phrases like “I am an student” make your site look somewhat rough and unpolished. Keep an eye out for these issues and try to revise them in the future.
First off, your overall website is good. I really like the home page picture of the glass flowers, love it. And the quote by Walt Disney. You certainly have dreams that you want to pursue and are well on your way to achieving them by the looks of all the school you have done and plan to do. With so many majors, I was wondering what you plan to do with them after college? You don’t really mention that.
The biggest off-putting thing was your ‘About’ page. When I first opened it, it screamed work resume to me. That is not something that I would want to read on a website. It’s supposed to be short and sweet. Yours is very long and it kind of drags on. It’s great that you have so much experience, but maybe you could have compressed it down to half a page and leave the full resume for when you job hunt. When I was looking through it, I read the first half page, but when it was time to scroll down to see more, I saw more resume and skipped right over it. It’s just too long to have on a website. If I don’t want to spend the time reading a resume, I don’t know who would.
The contact page is very basic, which most are. They are like the rest in the class too, that I have seen. There wasn’t one thing changed.
The portfolio page is awesome. People get to see your work from each major/minor that you are going for. I liked the story that you had first. I read a little bit of to get a feel for your writing and I ended up liking it, so I finished reading it. I’m not huge into art, so I skimmed the art essay. And the pictures. I can tell that some of them were not taken in America. So my question is where did you take them? The collage is fine, but maybe if I were to click on them to get a blown up version you could also have captions so that I know what I am looking at. I love Europe and it’s architecture. I would have like to know more about the pictures that you took. The graphic design clearly went with the story at the top of the page, which is cool. You get a bit of cover art.
I like to website. Now I’m just wondering if you will keep it and what you will add to it!?
